I can’t believe I’m saying this…Spring Break is a week away! After all we’ve been through with home improvements, virtual teaching, and the snow storm here in Dallas, I really doubted if we’d ever get here. It seems just like yesterday I was hitting “publish” on my spring outfit ideas blog post! But alas, we’ve arrived. I stocked up on some cute beach/pool looks and am excited to share this spring break swimsuit guide with you!
Y’all know I am all about being real in my little corner of the internet. My goal for this post is to show you that even girls with curves are allowed to rock a swimsuit and enjoy their vacation – something I feel we forget all too quickly. I have lumps, bumps, and lots of cellulite to accessorize these looks with, but that’s not going to stop me from wearing the dang swimsuit! I hope you’ll join me in giving yourself grace 🙂
Size guide
For size reference, I am a 38B, somewhere in between a L and XL for tops/bottoms, and 10-12 these days (honestly a true 11, oh how convenient). I haven’t been keen on working out much this year (which is ok! I have enough on my plate! Sometimes I have to remind myself of this.) so I found that in *most* of the spring break swimsuit guide items below a L bottom and XL top fit best. You can use this info as a guide to help you choose the right size for you.
Cover it Up
For starters, I feel it’s important to share my must-have vacation accessories and cover-ups. I bought all of these last year (or years prior) and luckily they’re still in stock! I love a strappy sandal, high waisted denim shorts, and a sun hat that won’t lose shape in your suitcase. This white top is versatile too – you can easily wear it as a cover-up OR as a blouse with mom jeans.
Pretty in Pink
I ADORE the two-tone details on this swimsuit! It has ribbed details which help hide any belly or lumps you may want to conceal (the high waisted bottoms also help with that). I’d suggest sizing up in the top, and tts (true-to-size) bottoms. I’m wearing my tts L bottoms here, which were a little snug, so if you’re an in-betweener like me you may want to order both sizes and see which works best.
Carole Baskin Vibes
Y’allllllll. These pants!!! I am deceased. They’re SO cute. I love the front tie detail and the open slit. They come in white and black and I 100% need both colors. So easy for walking around a casual beach town or from your room to the pool. Wearing tts (and they’re long enough for my 5’11” frame).
For the Cool Cats & Kittens
I actually purchased this high waisted leopard swimsuit last summer and love it! This year I snagged the bottoms in a L, my tts, because the XL pair I had last year stretched out too much when wet. I am wearing my tts L in the top, but suggest sizing up. This retailer’s swimsuit tops tend to run a little small.
Emerald hues for the Emerald Coast
This emerald green bikini is to die for. The color!!!! Swoon. The deep v cut of the top and thick straps make it elegant but very comfortable. I have to say I was incredibly surprised by how well these bikini bottoms fit my pear shaped frame! Bikini bottoms tend to dig into my extra fluff in that area which I hate, but this pair fits perfectly! I’m wearing a tts L top and L bottom. Pair it with the black cover-up pants for a casual, yet elegant look!
Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking.
Y’all know I went straight for this neutral-toned, floral bikini as soon as my eyes landed on it 🙂 I love the scrunch details/straps! It can be very tempting to size up in bikinis, but you won’t need to with these bottoms due to the adjustable ties. I do, however, suggest sizing up in the top. Wearing a L top (suggest XL) and XL bottoms (suggest a L, stick with tts). Layer that cute white tunic top with it for an easy, breezy vacation look!
Pretty Pastels
This lavender bikini is what dreams are made of. The pastel hue and simple, classic design makes it the ideal spring break swimsuit! Again, I grabbed an XL bottom but should’ve stuck with my tts L. Wearing an XL (size up from tts) top and it fits perfectly.
Rompin’ Around Town
Lol. This romper cover-up did NOT fit me correctly but I still wanted to share for my shorter friends because it’s so cute. I’m wearing my tts (L) but it clearly didn’t fit my hips OR height well. I’d suggest this romper cover-up for anyone 5’9″ and under, and may want to size up if you have curvier hips like me.
That does it! I hope this spring break swimsuit guide helps you a) find something new to wear that brings a smile to your face, and b) reminds you that women of all shapes and sizes can rock a bikini. I’d love to know which your favorite was, let me know in the comments below!
